Employee Spotlight – Rodney Nance
Our virtual celebration continues…Reflecting back on our journey over the last 40 years, our next Wall of Famer is Rodney Nance.
Rodney has worked at Springer-Peterson since 1993. 28 years later, we are honored to take some time to talk with Rodney about his perspective on this journey!
What are your main responsibilities in your role at Springer-Peterson?
As a Service Foreman, my main responsibility is to make sure that my helper and I do all of our jobs correctly, timely, and safely. Going home to our families is priority.
When and why did you become involved in the roofing industry?
Back 30 years ago, I really needed a job and had the opportunity, before starting at Springer-Peterson, to work somewhere to learn a little about the trade.
Tell us about your first roofing experience?
One of my first roofing experiences, when I didn’t know much at all about roofing, was when my co-worker told me to go get a “felt stretcher” for him. I looked around and asked about one only to find out there was no such thing. That joke was on me!
How would you describe working with Springer-Peterson?
It’s been a really good experience. I’ve been part of the Springer-Peterson family for almost 30 years now. I am faced with new challenges on a daily basis. I feel like I’ve been successful in overcoming any challenge that comes my way. I work with good people who also love their jobs. They are honest and fair with everyone.
You have many years invested in Springer-Peterson, what has kept you with the company for so long?
To be honest, I never thought about going anywhere else. I have always felt like I was treated well and that everyone is fair.
What is your most rewarding experience?
My most rewarding experience is actually ongoing… I like being the “go to” guy here. If someone can’t figure something out, they know they can call me and I can help figure it out.
