Gold Star Story

Rob Springer, Springer-Peterson, and Daniel Boatwright were major event sponsors for the Gold Star Teen Adventures Florida Deer Hunt in Yeehaw Junction at the DeLuca Preserve, more than 27,000 rural acres in southern Osceola County.

Partnering with Gold Star Teen Adventures meant being a part of its mission and vision to provide year-round adventure opportunities for the children of fallen military members, first responders, and from our nation’s intelligence community who have lost their lives in the line of duty. With this, they provide healing, leadership development and opportunity for these children. We’re honored to have worked side by side with Kent and Trina Solheim, from Gold Star Teen Adventures, to take part in this important mission.

The Florida Deer Hunt weekend began on December 9, 2021 with 12 kids flying into Florida from across the country to participate in this amazing and fun outdoor experience. It took the support of many individuals and entities to organize and execute this successful event. Special thanks goes to the following major sponsors for a smooth and memorable event, creating lifetime memories for these children.

  • Joe Hillman and Joe Hillman Plumbing – provided shirts for the kids
  • Black Daggar – provided all of the meals for the kids
  • Mike Love & Love Chevrolet
  • Dean Saunders, Jeff Cusson, Brian Beasley & Saunders Realty
  • Greg Masters, Brant Masters, and Southern Homes

Gratitude goes to FWC, Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission for doing a hunter safety training course for the participants. Shout out to officers Nick Stelzer and Jarred Johnson who personally conducted this critical training. Thank you to officer Ken Prussley for his work in making this happen.

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office and Sheriff Marcos R. Lopez deserve recognition for their support of this event and we appreciated the steak lunch they personally cooked for participants on Friday. Praise to Sergeant Grattan Heyward for coordinating this for us.

Mission BBQ supplied most of the food for the event and everyone loved it! Compliments to them for being there to set this up and to Steve Sullivan, Sole Proprietor and Director of Operations, for his ongoing support.

We can’t thank ALL of the event volunteers enough for their time and dedication to this hunting adventure.  It could have not happened without you! We also want to personally recognize our Special Volunteers who truly made the entire weekend and hunt an extraordinary experience for our teenage hunters. Shout out to Scott Cyphert, Luca Vescera, Thomas Dicesare, Joe Dicesare, Kyle Wise, Cole Springer , Patrick Fitzgerald ,Tim Fyffe, Alec Mcglaughlin, Ethan Johnson, Chris Aycock,, Jorge Poll, & Walter Dohmen.
